Archie and Hope Stainforth gallery / Archie salutes the return of The Buffs colours, 1919
Capt. Archie Stainforth MC, aged 23, had the honour of bringing home the Colours of the 1st Btn. The Buffs from Germany in May 1919 with the battalion's residual cadre. This is the scene at Canterbury Station as the colours (on far right) are uncased before the march to the Town Hall for a Civic Reception. While the cadre presents arms, Archie salutes with a drawn sword.
